Minnesota Wild versus Edmonton Oilers

Lame. That’s how my daughter summed up last night’s game against the Oilers. The penalty against Burns was lame. The Oilers first goal was lame. The non-stop injuries of the first period were lame. The performance of Shawn Belle was lame. 0-for-6 on the power play was lame. Out-shooting the Oilers 2-1 for most of the game and still losing was lame. A three-game home losing streak is lame.

Lemaire was right, though–they played a good game considering all of the factors. I can’t remember a recent game with so many scoring chances and none of them going in the net. Hopefully the injury situation won’t take too long to resolve itself.

This afternoon we are going to see Stephane Veilleux on Grand Avenue, then tonight it’s Hockey Unplugged in Lakeville with Emmanuel Fernandez-Lemaire and Brent Burns (who replaces trade-bait Dupuis).

Next game for us is February 8 versus Florida.
