On the way back from Lutsen, we stopped in at Black Bear Golf Course at the Black Bear Casino and Hotel in Carlton.

There was lots of activity going on at the site. On the golf course side, they were hosting the Veterans on the Lake Resort Golf Tournament, which raises funds for disabled veterans.

On the casino and hotel side, the old casino area was being torn down and additional gaming and hotel space was being constructed. The older hotel rooms and some of the new gaming area remain open during construction.

The 6,476 yard, par 72 Gilmore Graves Golf design looked to be in excellent condition. I have not played this course yet, but several friends have recommended it. Watch for more Black Bear reports on Golfing in Minnesota in the future.
