USS Midway Museum (and Party)

Posted Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012 10:17 am GMT -5 in History

The opening night welcome reception for NIGA 2012 was held at the USS Midway Museum, which is located just northwest of the convention center on the harbor. One of the slot manufacturers sponsored the event, which included free food and drinks, live music and a ceremony honoring Native American veterans.

This was one impressive place to hold a party. Our group walked through most of the historical displays, read a lot of the descriptions and talked to several of the very informed volunteers (most of them veterans themselves). More photos after the jump.

The flight deck and below deck areas were open all night and I walked pretty much the whole thing. I was glad I had my ski jacket with, but could have used even more layers in the cold and windy weather.
