Saint Dinette brightens Lowertown

It’s been almost exactly two months since we paid a visit to Saint Dinette in downtown St. Paul, so I don’t really remember all of the details of the stop (sorry, Mr. Niver). Regardless, my single thought was that the critically-acclaimed cheeseburger, along with those crinkle-cut fries and a Mexican Coke, might just be what I would order for my last meal if I ever find myself on death row. There are a lot of great burgers in town right now, but this triple threat might just top them all.

The room is beautiful – spacious and bright with high ceilings and windows that overlook the wonderful St. Paul Farmer’s Market kitty-corner from their building. They join Lenny’s neighborhood in the suddenly hip Lowertown anchored by the Saint’s nice new ballpark. If I knew all of that great stuff was coming, I may have never moved out of Galtier Plaza.

I thought I kept the receipt for when I eventually wrote this up, but now I can’t find it. I know Colleen started with the dilly beans and had something that wasn’t served hot (meatloaf?), so general manager Laurel Elm promptly removed the charge before we even knew it. We shared a dessert too, I think (churros?). Heh, this might be the lamest dining post ever…

We will get back again soon and I promise I will do a better job next time. Go and check it out yourself too, OK?
