Searching for Nine Holes

Last week, my co-worker and I thought about sneaking out of the office to play a quick nine holes. Apparently the downturn in the golf industry wasn’t in effect that day, as we had trouble finding an open spot.

First, we stopped at Cedarholm in Roseville. A women’s league was in full-swing, so we headed to the U of M Les Bolstad course. For some unknown reason, the course was closed and their range was packed with people.

Finally, we headed to Francis Gross Golf Course in Minneapolis. Lots of people were going off the first tee and a few were making the turn. The pro shop said we could get out in about an hour, but we couldn’t wait that long to start.

We gave up and decided to just hit balls on their range. That would have been OK, except for two things: the range was irons-only with mats and not a single additional group went off the back nine the entire time we were on the range. Doh!
