John “The Snyds” Snyder

Minnesota golf professional John Snyder is having a good year, especially considering his left foot was ripped off 3 years ago.

A two-time Tapemark Charity Pro-Am champion (1986, 1989), Snyder started this year by winning the Arziona Senior Open by five strokes May 7 at Royal Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona. That field included Austin native Jon Chaffee, Champion Tour players John Jacobs and Jim Ahern and many other past champions.

Then came the 2008 Tapemark, an event he looks forward to playing in each year: “Being a part of this great charity event has been an honor. I have met and made many new friends and have played with some of the finest people in the golf community. Winning this event twice has been one of the highlights of my golf career.”

Snyder rebounded from a first round 78 to finish 28th.

After the Tapemark, Snyder played two UGGOA Tour events, finishing T16 at the DSL Longbow Open and T7 at the DSL Eagle Mountain Open.

This week at the Minnesota State Open, Snyder’s third-round 68 propelled him up the leader board to a T4 and a check for $3,750.

Later this year, Snyder plans to attempt to qualify for the European Senior Tour.

Good luck, John!
