7 Minute Miles

Week Nine Training Update

The 42 miles scheduled for week nine were a challenge to fit in, but every mile eventually was run in one form or another. I’ve decided to scale back the speed work, as that seems to aggravate my knee. The doctor also said to ease up on hills, but quite a few still seemed to sneak in on various routes.

I decided to switch back to my Mizuno Wave Rider 15s from the Saucony Kinvara 3s, even though I was sure the red monsters contributed to my initial knee injury in May. New Wave Rider 16s (above) are expected to launch in November, but that will be too late for the next race. If anybody from Mizuno sees this and wants to send an advance pair of size 9s to my attention at Fortune Bay, though, please be my guest…

43 miles on tap for this week – fingers crossed for no knee pain or new blisters. Plans for my November race are starting to come together, although it’s tough trying to figure it all out without spending any money. Hurray for friends and frequent flier points!
