heading to the Guthrie for rush tickets to The Secret Fall of Constance Wilde (hopefully)
On my first visit during the actual Women’s Open week, I was again disappointed about the shuttle system from Southdale (even though it ran smoothly). Reminded me too much of the elaborate bus system they had at Winged Foot a few years back (but with yellow school buses instead of fancy coaches).
Today my kids and I took advantage of the USGA’s Catch the Spirit program at the U.S. Women’s Open at Interlachen. This program is almost unbelievable. Each paid adult can bring up to nine kids to the event for free. On top of that, each child receives:

Hmm, my Gallery2 install decided on it’s own that my admin account shouldn’t have admin access to the gallery – fixed
Happy Birthday Colleen!
The first of three practice rounds for the 2008 U.S. Women’s Open begin today at Interlachen in Edina. Golfing in Minnesota will be on site tomorrow and Wednesday taking pictures, so check back frequently this week.
According to LPGA.com, there are 155 entrants in the final field, including 27 amateurs and all of the top 50 players on the 2008 money list. The total purse for the event is $3.1 million, with a first place check of $560,000 (the largest purse in women’s golf).

My wife says she’s never seen so many geeky men so excited about anything before. Yesterday we went to the Science of Minnesota to see the Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit.

For the second year in a row, I didn’t make it to Duluth for Grandma’s Marathon. My local housing contact has moved and the thought of $500/night hotel rooms has scared me away. I do miss it, though–maybe next year…
Yesterday my normal Saturday group paid a visit to Edina’s Braemar Golf Course. This course always attracts a large number of golfers and yesterday was no exception. The non-resident 18 hole walking rate was $36.
The pace of play was slow (just under five hours), but the course was actively trying to manage things. The third regulation nine (the newer Clunie nine) is so tight and prone to lost balls that I’m convinced there isn’t much you can do to speed up play significantly.
Yesterday we went to the Rock the Garden event presented by the Walker Art Center and 89.3 The Current. Artists on the bill included Andrew Bird, The New Pornographers, Cloud Cult and Bon Iver.
