Fun to catch up with @afarrari at Kitchen and Rail in Eagan tonight
Minnesota mountain bike PSA: T-shirt weather has returned and the trails at Carver Lake Park in Woodbury are 100% open
I know why they do it, but I wish the NHL and their broadcast partners would drop the digital ads on the boards - the tech isn't quite there yet, the halo effect is distracting and the puck was already hard enough to follow without it just disappearing from time to time
RIP Gordon Lightfoot, 1938-2023
It’s almost May in Minnesota and I’m wishing I wore my ski pants to this Twins game 🥶⚾️
Another Get in Gear 10K in the books (22 year streak) - slower than last year, but I’ll take it
@dhegley My daughter and I just had an amazing visit to your old stomping groups for the in bloom event
I find music and the brain to be astounding. After 50+ years of listening, I probably “know” 50,000+ songs and some of them instantly transport me to another place and time 🎶
Wait, so I can get rid of 1Password *and* Google Authenticator?

Need to test that out a bit…
Not even close to the record
Offline for most of the day attending a funeral and open Ivory to find 700+ posts. Slow news day, eh?
Bound by the streak now - hit 1100 move days yesterday on my watch
Had to dig into the archives to figure out my start and end dates, but here is the site to file a Facebook privacy claim:

I created my account on November 20, 2008 and deleted it on June 2, 2020 (11 years, 6 months and 13 days - about three and a half years shorter than Twitter)
We are so fortunate to have this beautiful park an easy five minute walk from our house
Live webcams are so fun - watching this Union Depot cam to monitor the rising Mississippi River in downtown Saint Paul. Not really that high yet compared to other years, but the city has closed a bunch of roads in anticipation of the flood crest.

Wow, the Rock-afire Explosion is a blast from the past

Good luck to everyone running Boston today - following along on ESPN (and still haven't 100% given up on getting there some day)

Did some messing around this weekend with Mastodon and WordPress

Here was the original issue that led me down the app purchase history rabbit hole. I apparently purchased this Noel Gallagher deluxe edition in iTunes sometime after it come out in 2011 and Apple Music to this day still tries to download a corrupt file. Can't seem to delete the purchase history that keeps popping up this window
So I was browsing my app purchase history (which is oddly difficult to access, BTW) and came across Netbot from 2012, which I totally forgot about:

Kinda interesting re-reading this after all of the recent Twitter drama…
Cold and rainy start to my 2023 Minnesota golf season - very rusty 86 at the par-68 Dwan course in Bloomington
It's been a good night: Saints extend winning streak to four, Twins beat the Yankees, Timberwolves didn't blow a lead and got to watch Blondie and Gorillaz live from Coachella
@brentsimmons Do you happen to know what Nitter is doing with RSS feeds? I was looking at the code it produces for a hockey reporter I liked to follow on Twitter (RussoHockey), but NetNewsWire doesn't seem to like this URL:
https://nitter.net/RussoHockey/rss
Was hoping this might be a temporary work-around, but I really don't know much about how Nitter is going about this…
Looks like it will be a little longer before the mountain bike trails at Carver Lake reopen for the season - lots of trees down (and still some ice and mud)
Not sure which exact year I switched from manually preparing my taxes to online, but I don't miss driving to Kinko's to make copies, then to the airport post office to mail them by the deadline.
That said, the TaxAct fee keeps going up, they try to trick you into paying for add-ons and the overall process is still far too complex. Sainthood for whatever politician(s) can create a free, automated, sign and go tax filing system in the United States.
I love that Steve Jobs had a Lee Oskar harmonica

A Poi Dog Pondering song just popped up on Apple Music shuffle and I don't think I've heard one of their songs in probably five years. They are still together and you can hire them to come play at your house:

Sunny and 85F at Afton State Park today. Some snow and ice hanging around in the shadows, plus lots of tree damage from the last big storm
Mixed emotions visiting Chef Vang’s new spot on Lake Street (the old Minneapolis Mucci’s), but the food was great
Turned on the Golf Channel and saw the 76th Western Intercollegiate broadcasting live from one of my all-time favorite courses, Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz:

Dr. Alister MacKenzie, FTW
The giant pile of snow in the Union Depot lot in Lowertown is melting quickly in the 77F sunshine
First ride of 2023 was a success - 13 miles around Woodbury, Minnesota 🚴♂️
The new scoreboard at Target Field is wide enough to list all nine starters. Nicest April weather we've ever had there ⚾️
Great show last night in Minneapolis by the Red Hot Chili Peppers 🌶️
OK, then - after 15 years, 2 months and 6 days, I've deactivated my Twitter account after the @NetNewsWire feeds were cut off today.
Thank you @brentsimmons for the extended read-only viewport (which is still most excellent for RSS). And another shout-out to @paul and @mark for many, many great years with Tweetbot - ’twas truly the best way to use Twitter.
St. Paul Saints home opener today looked sunny and beautiful, but it was windy and I don't think the temp broke 40F - also gave up four runs in the top of the ninth to lose 12-11 to the Iowa Cubs ⚾️🥶
Thank you @dansinker for the new monitor motivation
Realized after I wrote it that the new Outstate Minnesota section of the food page is mainly places in the Northland, but I guess that’s just where we spend most of our time:

Gotta say, with Chef Kenzie now in the kitchen, the cheeseburger at Saint Dinette in Lowertown is back in my good graces
Went to see Swedish duo Väsen again tonight in Minneapolis. If you've never heard a nyckelharpa before, try and catch these guys if you can - just beautiful music
No joke: six hour power outage to start the day (and counting). Nice that the cell towers still work
Minnesota weather today went from thunderstorms to hail to a blizzard warning, so I thought it was a good night to update my Twin Cities food recommendations page:
https://7minutemiles.com/food/
Cleaned up all the broken links, removed places that have closed and added a handful of new entries. Want to add an outstate section next…
Forgot to link to this yesterday: my personal website 7minutemiles.com turned 17 this week

One more year and it will be an adult 👍
So great to visit with @krypted today at the original Keys on Raymond
Lately I've been picking a year and searching Apple Music for “Pop Hits: year” and listening to the playlist in the background. Some eras definitely appeal to me more than others, but it's all rather fun (and easy)
Last set of hockey tickets for us this season (unless we get to see a playoff game) - Wild vs. Kraken
Beautiful four mile morning hike at Afton State Park - Minnesota is currently remixing fall, winter and spring
